Software & Programming Services for Hybrids & EVs

Having trouble charging at home, seeing system warnings, power suddenly limited, or the car won’t go READY? These are often control-system issues—software misalignment, module coding, immobiliser pairing, or missed ADAS calibration—not “just a bad part.” Left unresolved, they can snowball into no-charge, reduced performance, or safety systems staying offline. We diagnose and correct these faults using OEM-approved procedures.

Book professional diagnostics & software correction — restore charging, performance, and safety.

WHAT YOU’RE LIKELY EXPERIENCING

  • Home AC charging fails or stops early, while DC fast charging may still work.
  • System warnings appear (triangle with !, “EV System” message) and don’t clear.
  • Power feels capped (turtle / limited power), and acceleration is weak.
  • After a 12-V battery change, multiple modules complain at once.
  • After windscreen/body work, lane/camera/adaptive cruise warnings won’t go away.
  • “Key not detected” or the vehicle won’t enter READY despite a known-good fob.

WHY DO THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN?

– Software drift or incomplete updates: BMS (Battery Management System) and OBC (on-board charger) fall out of sync.

– 12-V events: A weak or recently replaced 12-V battery can upset learned values and trigger network faults.

– Missed calibrations: Windscreen/body repairs without ADAS calibration leave safety systems out of spec.

– Control-logic interlocks: Immobiliser/BCM(Body Control Module) pairing or shift/READY logic needs re-initialisation, not parts.

Get a guided scan and fix plan — no guessing, just the root cause and a straightforward remedy.

HOW WE FIX IT

  • Full-system scan & health checks (HV & 12-V/DC-DC) to identify the real cause behind each warning.
  • Software services: BMS/OBC updates and synchronisation, immobiliser/BCM pairing, module coding, post-12-V relearns, and shift/READY procedures.
  • ADAS calibration to manufacturer standards, with verifiable evidence of success.
  • Road-test & validation so the warnings stay gone and the car behaves correctly.

WHEN TO ACT

Delaying action turns minor control issues into repeated charge failures, persistent power derating, inactive safety systems, and unresolved 12-V/DC-DC warnings that trigger further faults—driving more damage and significantly higher downstream costs.

Dashboard icon guide (recognise the warning, know what it means)

These warnings indicate potential control-system issues in your EV or hybrid. Knowing the meaning helps prioritise action and ensures safe, correct operation.

WarningVehicle Brands / Models (UK)Meaning & Action Required
Master Warning (Triangle with !)Toyota hybrids (Prius, Corolla Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid) and other brandsSystem-level alert. Requires immediate scan. Often indicates hybrid/EV system or safety-system issues that need software correction or ADAS calibration.
EV System Warning (Car with Exclamation)Nissan LEAF (UK models)Umbrella EV fault covering traction components, lithium-ion battery, cooling, charge port/OBC, or shift control. Treat as serious and arrange guided diagnostic.
Power Limitation / “Turtle” ModeKia EV6, Hyundai EVs; similar modes on other EVsReduced-power mode due to low HV charge, temperature limits, or protection strategies. Driving performance is restricted until fault is corrected.
12-V / DC-DC Warning (Battery Lamp On)Nissan LEAF (and analogous EVs)Indicates 12-V charging/DC-DC issue. Do not attach external charger while warning is active. Seek professional diagnostics immediately to prevent DC-DC damage.
ADAS Sensor / Camera WarningsAll UK brands with ADAS; common after windscreen or body repairsSensor alignment or calibration required. Until calibrated, driver-assist systems may be unavailable or inaccurate. Must follow OEM-approved procedure with auditable evidence.

See any of these warnings? Bring your vehicle for a professional software scan. We’ll confirm the cause and apply the correct software or calibration fix to restore full functionality and safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does home charging fail but DC fast charging still works?

AC charging uses the on-board charger; DC fast largely bypasses it. When AC charging fails, the on-board charger or its communication with the battery controller is often the bottleneck. Software misalignment between the OBC and BMS can cause “connected, not charging,” early cut-off, or schedule failures.

DC fast charging feeds the battery via a different path, which is why it may still work. The fix is a guided diagnostic to validate the OBC, confirm battery and temperature conditions, then perform the relevant software update/synchronisation and functional tests. If hardware is implicated, the software path still prevents misdiagnosis.

I changed the 12-V battery and now lots of warnings are on — what happened?

Modules need relearning and network checks. EVs are full of controllers that store learned positions and states. A weak or replaced 12-V can scramble these until the correct re-initialisation steps are performed.

In some models, the DC-DC converter has strict cautions; charging the 12-V at the wrong moment can damage it. The proper procedure is to health-check the 12-V and DC-DC, run the module relearns (windows, steering angle, etc.), and then retest. Only after this should you decide if any component needs repair. This avoids unnecessary parts and ripple faults.

Lane/camera warnings came on after a windscreen replacement — do I really need calibration?

Yes; alignment must be verified and recorded. Camera and radar sensors sit behind or near the windscreen and require precise alignment to function safely. After glass or structural repair, calibration isn’t optional — it’s a safety requirement.

UK industry guidance requires competent technicians, OEM-specified methods, and an auditable record. Skipping calibration leaves features like lane keep or adaptive cruise unreliable. We assess the sensor set, apply the correct static/dynamic procedure, and supply proof of successful calibration.

My car shows a triangle or “EV System” message — can I drive it?

Minimise use and get it scanned promptly. These messages are system-level alerts. Some are benign; others indicate faults that can escalate — especially if cooling, high-voltage, or charging systems are involved.

Reduced-power (turtle) mode is a safety feature that protects the car. The safest path is a controlled scan, thermal checks, and, where indicated, software updates or coding to restore reliable operation. Continuing to drive without a diagnosis risks compounding faults and higher costs.

Key not detected, but the fob is fine — what then?

The immobiliser/BCM pairing likely needs attention. After module work or a low-voltage event, immobiliser data can desynchronise. The result is a working fob that the car refuses to recognise, or a vehicle that won’t enter READY mode.

The fix is to verify the fob health, then run the correct pairing or initialisation routine and check for related shift/READY interlocks. This is software-led work; replacing parts prematurely wastes time and money.
